Midwest Swing Dance Co. was Born
Midwest Swing Dance Co. (formerly known as Sioux Center Swing Dance) was established by two friends, Courtney Johnson and Eric Rowe. These two spent countless hours developing their teaching method, hosting classes and dances in order to share their love of dancing with the Northwest Iowa community.
Since then Eric moved to Washington and many friends have come together to make MWSDC what it is today, lead by Courtney and her husband Marcus. Learn more about our amazing team of volunteers below!

Courtney & Marcus Johnson
Courtney and Marcus met as dance partners in the Broadway Style Production of Beauty and the Beast, have been married for two years and are the owners/lead Instructors of Midwest Swing Dance Co. Courtney takes care of all things involved with marketing and planning events and Marcus takes care of Courtney.
Hosts/Support Team
Hannah & Lyle Wielenga
Hannah and Lyle started dancing together long before they were married in 2020. They're our hosts for our Third Monday dances and cherished, experienced members of our team!
Event Host/Support Team
Nate Muyskens
Nate joined our team as our new event host for our Dances! His helpful spirit and kind smile welcome every guest to our events and we are so glad to have him on our team!
Assistant Instructor/Beat Specialist
Jess Giannantonio
Jess is our go to gal for all things "keeping a beat". She is a lovely, bubbly presence and is always ready to help! She makes our classes and dances just that much more enjoyable for all of our dancers.

Nia Hoekstra
Nia has been our direct connection to Dordt and an amazing event planner and coordinator! We are so happy to have her on our team.
Assistant Instructor/Event Coordinator
Kirsten Buiter
Kirsten is creative and helpful! She navigates our relationship with the local college swing dance club and joins us for classes occasionally. She is a big help at our events!
Host/Support Team
David Sommerfeld
David is ever faithful to us with his ever-ready servant's heart. He's always prepared to help set up, take down and visit with guests. We're thankful for all of his hard work and dedication to our team!
Support Team/Traveling Instructor
Jonathan Foster
Jonathan faithfully attends all of our social events and even comes on the road with us for events outside of our local area. He's always willing to step in and make our events fun for everyone!
